Climbing-Hall Rules at the HT16

Welcome to the Climbing Hall at the Hamburger Turnerschaft von 1816.

Climbing takes a high level of prudence, security, and individual responsibility. The hall rules help to prevent danger and accidents and try to prevent those from happening.

The following binding rules need to be read and signed by everyone before entering the HT16 Climbing Hall.

  1. Climbing Rules:
    1. The user approves with his/her signature, that he/she has enough knowledge of climbing and basic knowledge of necessary securing-technique.
    2. The used material/ climbing equipment must be in an immaculate condition as shown in the manufacturer’s information and in addition need to have the valid CE and EN-Norm.
    3. The ropes used in the lead climb need to have a length of at least 40 meters.
    4. In the lead climb all intermediate backups need to be used/ mounted.
    5. It is not allowed to take out the top-rope-ropes and to use them in the lead climb area.
    6. There must be a knot in the safety-rope in both the top-rope- and the lead climb area.
    7. The securing partner is required to stand close to the wall and must use common tools in example a Gri-gri, a Smart, a Mega-Jul, etc.to secure the climber.
    8. Climbing barefoot or with socks on the climbing wall(s) is prohibited.
    9. Every user must be considered towards others and must refrain from everything that might endanger other users of the climbing hall.
  2. General rules
    1. Every visitor that enters the estate of the climbing hall, is obligated to follow the rules in the climbing hall and is responsible to check that people they are responsible to too.
    2. Every visitor needs to check in with staff on duty, before entering the climbing hall.
    3. Only people with valid entry cards are allowed to use the facilities of the climbing hall.
  3. Children
    1. Children or young adults under 18 need the declaration of consent from a legal guardian before using the facilities.
    2. The facilities can only be used by children under 14 if accompanied by a legal guardian or an adult with a written declaration of consent.
    3. Young adults from the age of 14 are allowed to use the facilities without a legal guardian present, but need to provide a written declaration of consent.
    4. Legal guardian or supervisors are held responsible for the action of their children/ the children they supervise.
    5. It is prohibited to play with toys in the entire climbing hall.
  4. Cleanliness and Order
    1. The climbing hall, toilet, showers, changing rooms, sauna area as well as outdoor areas must be kept clean.
    2. Who causes property or personal damage is held responsible for those damages.
    3. Theft will be immediately reported to the police.
    4. Smoking inside the building is prohibited. Smoking outside is only allowed in designated areas.
    5. Information as well as warning signs need to be followed.
    6. Own changes or any kinds of manipulation on the facilities are prohibited.
    7. After the consumption of alcohol, narcotics, drugs or other similar substances climbing is strictly prohibited.
  5. Liability
    1. Whoever enters the premise or facilities of the climbing hall, does so on individual risk and responsibility.
    2. The operator and the staff on duty does not take responsibility and/ or liability if an offence against the rules in the climbing hall occurs.
    3. The liability for wardrobe and lockers or any kind of belongings of the visitors, is his own.
    4. Away from the governmental liability provision the user of the climbing facilities does his training on his/ her own risks. This is especially the case in the event of damage claims regarding a violation of the traffic safety obligation.
  6. Domiciliary rights
    1. The instructions by the present staff must be followed at all times.
    2. In case of a violation of the climbing hall rules a ban for a specific period or a permanent house ban can be imposed.
